📕 Getting started

Everyone on your team can get up and running with Snapshot for Jira in minutes. Follow the instructions below to get started.

1. Install Snapshot for Jira from the Atlassian Marketplace

Use the following link to add Snapshot for Jira to your Jira instance.

If you don’t have permission to install apps, send a note to your administrator by clicking on the “try it free“ button.

2. Find “Apps > Snapshot” in your Jira menu

Open your Jira instance (e.g. https://yourcompany.atlassian.net) and navigate to “Apps > Snapshot“ in the main menu. If you’re not sure how to find your Jira instance, visit this link.

If you don’t see this option, ensure that you have added Snapshot as described in step 1.

3. Follow the link and install the extension

After navigating to Snapshot in the Apps menu, a page will load up with some simple instructions, including a link to the Chrome Web Store, and a license key.

Click on “Add to Chrome“, and “Continue“, on the resulting modal, to navigate to the Chrome Web Store. In the Chrome Web Store, click “Add to Chrome“.

Snapshot is now installed on your browser!

Tip: Pin the extension

For easier access to the Snapshot for Jira browser extension, click the pin icon beside Snapshot so that its icon is always visible.

4. If prompted, enter the license key found on the page in the app menu

By following steps 1—3 above, Snapshot will automatically add the license key in the background, so you don’t have to enter it manually.

If you have added the browser extension another way, for example, using a direct link to the Chrome Web Store, you will see a prompt to enter a license key. You can find the license key at “Apps > Snapshot” in your Jira menu.

5. If prompted, log in to your Jira instance

Snapshot for Jira requires that you are logged into Jira on your current browser, in order to create issues. To log in, visit id.atlassian.com.

6. Click capture on any web page to start giving feedback

You’re now ready to give easier visual feedback! Click on the Snapshot icon in your browser to get started.
